Sat at the heart of Halstead high street for over sixty years
We opened our doors for the first time on 1st April 1960, but our roots go back even further to a small bakery in the village of Bures, run by Albert Hume. Six decades later, the bakery remains within the Hume family and is jointly run by Adrian and Judith, the grand-children of Albert.

ROLLS
Our Fresh Rolls are freshly baked daily a mere few hours before the door opens for the day. The flour to create these rolls comes from a local flour miller, Marriages. Varieties of rolls include white crusty and soft, wholemeal, multiseed and cobber. Others available by order.

CAKES
A number of delicious and handmade cakes are baked throughout the day to ensure freshness for our customers. Cakes include jam doughnuts, ring doughnuts, Belgian buns, chelsea buns and so much more. Stop by and try!

Our bread is baked with the freshest and best flour from Marriages. Expertly made and baked on site by our team of craft bakers. SAVOURIES
Our fresh savouries are baked fresh daily to perfection, and are a real crowd pleaser. Our range include sausage rolls, pasties, meat pies, cheese and bacon wraps.
Our Sausage rolls have become folk-lore in Halstead over the last sixty years. Children who first clammered to buy them have become parents and even grandparents and continue to buy them!

Great food and amazing customer service!
Personal favourites are the soft rolls, jam doughnuts, Venesse swirls and hot cross buns. Everything freshly made in the back. 1000 times better than any chain bakery! Will definitely be back when we are next in the area.
